Looks good to me.  And it works, too.

I usually let patches mature for a few days in the archive, but this
fixes a bug in the stable branch -- I'm pushing it straight away
unless I find a bug.

One thing that worries me -- since this code is being run lazily, it
can happen at any time.  Are there any dependencies on the current
directory?  I.e. any places where you feel you should insert some
calls to withCurrentDirectory?
