I'm going to go ahead and push these in on/by this weekend, if nobody
complains.

Building a solution to the ':'-in-path problem will likely be easier on
top of explicitly marked paths.  Seems like this kind of thing is easy
to get wrong, so it's good to have all the help we can get.
