Unless I have misunderstood, it's to automatically generate an
output-name, how about

- --output-auto-name

it would work nicely with command line completion, and puts it
next to  --output in the help/docs.

ie.
- -o  --output FILE       specify output filename
- -O  --output-auto-name  output to automatically named file
