No, it is not allowed to change such information in the patches, at 
least, not by simply edit the patches themselves: the author info is 
used to compute the "patchid", so you cannot just change the author.

There's no quicker way than the "unrecord/record". Beware that even 
those operations are not enough once one patch has left your repo (has 
been pushed some where else outside your master repo).
