Bear in mind that people can configure this themselves if they want
it. I have the following in my ~/.ssh/config, and I always have a
terminal open to my repo server:

Host *
    ControlMaster auto
    ControlPath /home/jwebb/.ssh/control-%h-%p-%r.sock
