[darcs-users] A dumb question

Thank you for addressing my question.
Eric, your link to the "Understanding darcs" wikibook is very helpful.
But the gist is that I can't reach into the repository and easily pull
out an old version of just one file... right?
Actually, David's suggestion that I use
darcs get --to-patch
makes a lot of sense, even though it rolls back the whole repository
rather than just one file. But at least it only effects a copy of the
repository, not the main repository.
However, David, your next suggestion is really not very useful to a
still unsteady beginner:
"[You could use] one of the ways of calling annotate (which also allow
to extract an older version of a file)"
With respect to darcs annotate, where would I find a clear explanation
of the command, one that might explain how it can "extract an older
version of a file" ? I see no such indication in darcs help annotate,
nor in the manual.
My biggest problem with darcs right now is that most of the
documentation seems general and allusive rather than targeted and
specific.This interesting program deserves a whole ink-on-dead-trees
book all to itself.
Regards,
Ralph
