Ah, well I just wanted to discuss it before it got applied. The next patch was going to be chopping out the entire module in favor of a dependency on utf8-string, but before I did that I wanted to know about the error handling. I'm always kind of wary about error handling since it's a important but rarely exercised area of code; this patch I was confident about though - if it compiles, then almost by definition the changes are alright.
