I'm not really sure what you mean by 'using darcs to access a remote
repository'. What operations do you want to do?

I mean, 'darcs get' doesn't depend on the remote repo having darcs
(it's just copying files), but something like 'darcs put' (whose
documentation
http://darcs.net/manual/node8.html#SECTION00843000000000000000 claims
it is basically a 'darcs init' remotely and then a 'darcs push'
locally) maybe not so much.
