Sorry, what I said there was *really* confusing.  I meant that  
"Data.ByteString.Internal( fromForeignPtr )" is found, as in the check  
for it shows "yes", when running GHC 6.8.  It's not found (gives the  
output as above), on GHC 6.6.

Yep!  It's working fine now.  Just been doing some trivial testing  
from my Mac to a Ubuntu VM over SSH and no problems.

The whole venture was because a client I am working with doing some  
development consultancy was considering moving to git as he wanted a  
less restrictive.  On the basis that the only good thing about git is  
GitHub, and you have to pay for that, I suggested using darcs.  So  
spent the weekend faffing around with Ubunutu, but I think it's all  
good now - should be able to switch next week!
