I think you could contribute by getting a bare-bones wiki setup; do the editing of the template.html that you want, etc. You can go through the current wiki and think what directories would be best and create them now. And so on. As long as you don't create any files with the same name that wikipages will be given, I don't see how there could be any conflicts (and thus, wasted work).
