Hello,
This message is intended to prepare everybody for some potentially heavy
traffic on the mailing list, caused by your Issue Manager (me) trying to
bring the content of the bug tracker up to date with the description in:
http://wiki.darcs.net/DarcsWiki/BugTrackerIssueManagement
Thanks to Trent Buck
(http://lists.osuosl.org/pipermail/darcs-users/2008-December/016608.html)
and Eric Kowey
(http://lists.osuosl.org/pipermail/darcs-users/2008-December/016699.html)
who commented on that.
As described in
http://lists.osuosl.org/pipermail/darcs-users/2008-December/016607.html, I
have tested these ideas in practice, by working out to some level of detail
how their application would affect the current contents of the bug tracker.
The main thing that would seem to happen is that many issues that are
presently in the "unread" or "chatting" states would be assigned one of the
"need-info", "need-volunteer", or "deferred" states. With "need-info" and
"need-volunteer" mainly used for those issues that appear to require some
action (typically bugs) and "deferred" being used for wishes and requests for
additional features.
I plan to start the work to carry out this change shortly, so this message is
intended to prepare everybody that some potentially heavy traffic dealing
with these changes is ahead. If there are any comments to this, objections,
suggestions for different or improved ways of doing this, they are, of
course, very welcome. And even after some of the changes have been made, I
would welcome such comments, as it may well turn out that the result has some
undesirable properties that I have not foreseen.
Thanks and best regards
Thorkil
