We are pleased to announce that Darcs has joined the Software Freedom
Conservancy. The Conservancy is an organisation composed of Free and
Open Source Software projects.

Joining it gives us the benefits of a formal legal structure: the
ability to collect donations and hold assets, as well as protection of
Darcs hackers from legal liability. The Software Freedom Conservancy is
a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, so member projects can receive
tax-deductible donations to the extent allowed by law.

Many thanks go to the SFC for their work to support the FOSS community.
Thanks also to the darcs users who contributed to the preliminary
discussions, and in particular to Karen and Bradley for their patient
and very generous help in answering our questions.

Eric
