Just to flood the list a little bit more... I'm unclear on the target
audience for the pre-conference student day.
Do you have to be registered for the Linux Plumbers' Conference to
attend the student day? If so, do you have to be registered as a
student?
Can people just show up? If not (why not?), is there enough room that
we could let people register for the student day without registering
for the full conference?
I know several people who would value a day of introduction to
contributing to open source projects, but who aren't so interested in
infrastructure/systems software. So they aren't targets for the main
conference, but the talks planned for students would help these
people.
I'd strongly encourage making recordings of these talks, and making
them available without cost or hassle to anybody. Our goal surely
isn't to put on a conference--it's to improve collaboration and gain
new project contributors. Publishing the talks is a great way to
achieve that goal; locking them up misses the whole point.

p.s. I think I'm done for the night with making up for my earlier
silence on this list. Thanks for listening. :-)
