On the window pc:

cd c:\"the dir"
repo get mrcf at xxxx:/home/mrcf/devel/xxxxxxxx

cd c:\the dir\xxxxxxxx
change file

darcs record

darcs push mrcf at xxxx:/home/mrcf/devel/xxxxxxxx

after the "Add patch?" prompt: get windows error message "The system 
cannot find the file specified"

cd C:\
rename "the dir" thedir
cd c:\thedir\xxxxxxxx

darcs push now works
