Argh.  I introduced (foolishly) latex2html-specific code into the
intended-for-html version of the manual.  :( I just made a patch to make
the manual pure latex when we aren't compiling it with latex2html.

I also (I think) have fixed this make install problem, by getting rid of
the icons directory.

Could you try again with the latest darcs, making sure you've got the
latest patch, which is

and may not be on the server for a while, since it still needs to pass the
test suite.  (and if it fails, it'll be even longer...)
