I had the same problem.  I have compiled darcs 1.0rc2 on Debian/testing 
with 'LDFLAGS=-static'.  This creates statically linked executable that 
seem to run fine on a Debian stable system.  There is a warning when 
linking about needing the same version of libc when running.  I don't 
use the same version, and things seem to work fine.  I can make them 
available.

I cannot find it there.  Searching for ghc, ghc6, and haskell turns up 
nothing.

What other packages do you need but ghc6?  What about a recent gcc, 
glibc, libcurl, etc?
