Okay, this is I believe a known problem.  You may be able to work around it
by running optimize before resolve.  I hope to have a semi-fix,
semi-workaround for this later today.  Although the tests have been failing
again (it's unit this time, so it's definitely my fault), so I'm not sure
when the change will make it into the central repository.

Indeed, it would have helped.  You could try darcs changes -s Record.lhs,
and look for patches with exclamation points.  That may indicate where the
problem is.
