If you're using a repository format in which patch ids are determined  
from the contents of the patch, then you don't need unique  
timestamps.  (And indeed, perhaps you also don't *want* them.)

Is that right?  That would be a good way to optimize the generation  
of different timestamps -- skip it entirely.  ;-)
