Gabriel sent a patch which improves the readability of darcs send output
(which is not entirely addressing your point about the size of the
bundle itself but perhaps it a bit nicer).

Could be worth looking at that.

Otherwise, I'd suggest just tagging it something like
darcs-unstable 2011-01-26.
[unless we have a better name for mainline]
