[darcs-users] darcs only compiles on debian after debian package patch applied

When I try to build darcs via darcs get and darcs check
it crashes.

I have tried the debian darcs package without the the debian diff
darcs_1.0.0.final-4.diff.gz

and the compile also crashes

however once the debian diff is applied to the debian darcs package 
it compiles cleanly.

Someone out their must know what's going on and how to fix it, as shown
darcs_1.0.0.final-4.diff.gz

I would be nice if the stable darcs I get from 
darcs get http://www.abridgegame.org/repos/darcs/
would also compile cleanly. :)
