you'll find a few excerpts from a mail by Linus.  Basically, Linus is
explaining why decentralised VC systems are good.  One bit that caught
my eye:

  We _could_ also just send pack-files as email attachments. There's
  nothing fundamentally wrong with doing the object discovery that
  "git-send-pack" does on its own manually over email.

Yes, they're reinventing a lot of the Darcs functionality.
