This problem was discussed before...  The consensus was that it would be 
cleanest to implement such a thing as a repository setting; there could 
be some local repository configuration item that specifies which remote 
darcs executable to run.

I didn't quite agree, and I posted a patch that adds a new option 
"--executable-location" that lets you specify the location of the 
remote executable on the command line.  If this is what you need, I 
could post it again.
