[darcs-users] [1.0.1] darcs dist and tar

Hello,

when using darcs dist with the tar executable /bin/tar that comes with
Solaris 2.6, I get an empty tarball (= a tarball that only has a tar
header, but none of the files it should contain). Using another tar
(GNU tar) produces a tarball with all the expected contents. This
problem is due to the way /bin/tar is configured on the system here
(it insists on accessing a tape drive no).

GNU tar is installed here under the name gtar. Currently, changing the
name of the tar executable used by darcs requires a search and replace
in Dist.lhs. Wouldn't it be nice to have a --with-tar= option for the
configure script ?
