Good tool! I recorded the darcs accesses on the push after I confirmed
the single patch I want to transfer (which is then aborted by the
error). The non-success actions are (sorry for the line-wrapping):

The full log is also available. The problematic access might be to
C:\WINDOWS\AppPatch\systest.sdb?

Also, there is no access of darcs to the share (N:) in the log -
although these are logged, as I could see lateron when saving the log on
N:. I then did a "darcs get" from N: to a different place on the local
disk of the notebook, and pushed towards this repository - et voila,
same error message. And the filemon log looks the same.

> Does this happen every time you push? Can you push to another share?

I just recorded a new tiny patch, and the same problem happens again. As
tested above, it does not seem to be SMB-specific at all.

BTW, when I copied the complete repository to my Unix $HOME, I could
push without problem. So, the repository itself is fine.
