I would say that if you found no bug report, then there is no official
plan.  

If you want to nudge it along, you could file your own Wishlist bug report.
If others disagree with your proposal, the details of how to proceed can
hashed out there. 

Not that they need to be re-hashed. Relevant bits from past
conversations can be copy/pasted into the ticket.
