Very interesting idea. I have been told that just by chrooting the
problem would be solved, but I couldn't grasp this one yet. Have you
been able to test it already?

Can you share your results on this issue? I am indeed very interested
on it and think the Darcs community will win a lot with your
experience. Maybe this custom shell could even be bundled with the
main darcs download.
