Linux abandoned that scheme afaik. I'd vote for major.minor.bugfix also. I think the 1.0.x scheme doesn't communicate sufficient progress & credit. Thanks for this release and the clear release notes, and to all of you developers and bug trackers and explainers - much appreciated! -Simon
