The ChangeLog reminds me that 1.0.8 isn't very different from 1.0.7.

Maybe it's something to do with GHC on Intel Macs?

If you're willing to compile from source, GHC 6.6 has been released and
works fine on my Intel Mac.  The current stable darcs 1.0.9rc2 compiles
with it right out of the "box".
