Indeed Jakub Narebski (a git user and bit of a developer) says that
really darcs should be compared with something like topgit and not
git itself: http://repo.or.cz/w/topgit.git

(he also thinks that hey, maybe the notion of patch commutation
would be useful for something like topgit)
