I've modified gitit to make use of the left sidebar for markup help
when you are editing a page.  For an example, see
http://gitit.johnmacfarlane.net/Sandbox?edit

The markup help is sensitive to your configured default-page-type
(markdown, markdown+lhs, rst, rst+lhs, latex, latex+lhs, html).
