Hmm...I was commenting from the assumption that any change on a line means
the whole line is included in the patch / diff / conflict, and that if we
only update whitespace when we edit a given line that it is no different
than any other sort of change or conflict.  Do you feel that changes at the
trailing end of lines are more likely to result in spurious conflicts?  Or
are you saying that patches which modify the line only by killing or adding
trailing whitespace are annoying?  I would certainly agree with the latter
:)
