My only concern is performance, which is keeping me from using
the newer versions anyway. It would be nice to be able to
interact with our old-fashioned repositories during and after the
upgrade, until we feel comfortable with everything. After that
conversion period, I do not see us ever needing to go back to
old-fashioned.

So I would not mind support for old-fashioned going away, but
would feel more comfortable with it if I felt satisfied that my
conversion path would not be bumpy. I'm not sure exactly how I'm
supposed to know that, or what exactly that means.
