Reinier: You may want to make a note of this for the Darcs 2.5 release.

Iago: could you look into disabling amend-record --index?

I think you have to knock out a piece of Darcs.Arguments, but be careful
that you're not accidentally removing index support from a command where
it actually works (I doubt you would be)

Hint: one trick here is to record against HEAD darcs but send against
      http://darcs.net/releases/branch-2.5
