I'm afraid you're out of luck on this one.

We don't currently recommend storing large binary files in Darcs)

For a list of known performance bugs, see

It may be a good idea to add to this collection if you think you have a
new case for us to watch out for.

Perhaps one of the other DVCSes will suit your needs better?
