Hi all,

The Americas Darcs sprint happened 10 days ago in Córdoba (Argentina).
The sprint was meant as a parallel event of the Southampton (England)
sprint on March 31st. In the past, the Darcs project already had
parallel events: in October 2008, in Brighton, Portland and Paris; and
in November 2009 in Vienna and Portland.

The sprint lasted one day, involved three participants (Miguel,
Mathías and me), and produced the following contributions:

- patch for changing the format of darcs' temporary files names (miguel)
- patch to fix compilation of darcs-test with regards to the curl flag (miguel)
- unmarking issue 1254 as "probably easy". After some investigation
and coding, it has been found that this issue requires lots of code
change to properly work without breaking other parts of darcs
(mathias)
- patch for adding the --unified flag to record, revert, amend-record
(needs follow up work) (guillaume)

The two participants that joined me to the sprint did not know the
codebase beforehand (just like me when I attended my first sprint in
Zurich in 2010!). Hence the sprint was also useful for introducing the
project and its organization and culture, along with the code itself.

At the end of the day, we concluded that one-day sprints with only
local participants could be done more often (say, every 3 months),
since barely no logistic is needed at all, and such events are useful
to reboot some participants's motivation (mine, for instance :-) ).
Hence the next one-day sprint could happen as soon as June.

Meanwhile, I wish good luck to everyone who is going to participate in
the Southampton sprint on March 31st!

Guillaume
