I haven't managed to reproduce this locally with a variety of versions
of darcs, but it's a bit trick to retry operations involving a lazy repo
as patches get cached. Are you able to reproduce it, maybe even with a
non-lazy repo? Can you also try the most recent version (2.14.x)?
