[Evolution] Can't expunnge local folder (Evo 1.5.5)

When I try to expunge my local mail folder, I get an error that says 

"Error while 'Expunging folder':
Summary and folder mismatch, even after a sync"

Deleted messages are still there.  Any ideas?
