This should be a separate topic as it's unrelated to the Subject of
this thread. Anyway:

 * There has to be a limit
 * The list manager is sending this message to everyone on the list,
   basically one by one
 * There is no reasonable justification for list messages to be larger,
   as we encourage people to use plaintext
 * If there is a real need to send something large, such as an image,
   there is an easy workaround.
