Yes, I have checked to use the offline GAL and I can hit the fetch
button there and choose the only existing entry there "Default Global
Address List".

Looks promising, I'll try to compile my own package with that patch
applied, I'll report if that fixes it - I am / Ubuntu 24.x is on 3.52.3
at the moment.

Gotcha, that would explain my observation.

At the moment, if I start evolution I get a password prompt for the GAL
- sounds like this one maybe, anything I could analyze to push that
further?
