Just to reiterate what Pete said separately: the list has a size limit
of 40k bytes, including all headers and attachments. That seems to
satisfy most people most of the time and there's no serious move to
change it. People wanting to upload large images are invited to use one
of the numerous image paste services, or even a cloud storage service
with sharing facilities.

By the way, there is of course a mailing list server but it's not a
"listserv" and never has been. Listserv was an early mailing list
system used in the past by IBM mainframes. I don't know if any
installations still exist, though I would doubt it. It was the very
definition of a "hack".
