Hi,
you created a send-only account, which cannot receive anything, it can
be used for sending only, thus it's shown in the message composer.
To be able to read messages as the `mail` you mentioned in the message
does, you should use Server Type "Standard Unix mbox spool file" and
point it to your mail file, which is somewhere like
/var/spool/mail/$USER
