Hi,
these things are about communication between the WebKitWebProcess and
the Evolution. When you click the icon in the preview panel the
Evolution receives a signal from the WebKitWebProcess and shows a gtk3
widgets at the right place on the screen.
Either the signal was not received, or it contained incorrect
coordinates, or the popover is out of screen/in incorrect place, or
something else happened. As there is no runtime warning on the
evolution terminal it can be anything from that (a runtime warning
would give a clue, I hoped).
I mentioned 2.49.2 WebKitGTK version in my previous message, but in
fact it was 2.49.4 instead, I'm sorry for a mistake. It still means
2.50.x stable series. If you've installed that WebKitGTK, then try to
downgrade it. Even, I tried it here in Fedora 43 with
webkit2gtk4.1-2.50.0-2.fc43.x86_64 and evolution-3.58.1-1.fc43.x86_64
and the popup is shown properly both when I click on the button in the
preview panel below the message list and also when I double-click the
message, which opens a new window with the message.
You've an older Evolution, which might need this change [1], but in
there crashed whole Evolution. The modified files in the [1] can be
found in `/usr/share/evolution/webkit/` directory (usually there,
hopefully your distro installs them there as well). There is no need
for a rebuild of the application, only when an update arrives for the
evolution the files are overwritten. Maybe you can give it a try, to
apply the patch and see whether it'll help.
Bye,
Milan
