	Hi,
the first 9 labels have a shortcut 1..9 (one to nine), to set/unset it
on the selected messages. The 'l' (lower case L) is a new thing, to
change more labels at once. You can press 0 (zero) to unset all labels.
This is found in context menu of the message list->Label->... and in
menu Messages->Mark As->Label->... in case you'd search for it in the
future.
