...or, look at Edit->Preferences->Mail Accounts-><the sending account>
->Edit->Security tab, there is a section for Open PGP and S/MIME and
they both have an option "Always encrypt to myself when sending
encrypted messages", which is checked by default, Maybe Janos
somehow/accidentally unchecked it.

Janos, look at the option. When it's set, the next sent encrypted
message should be visible also from the Sent folder, on the machine you
created the message. When you'll use sign & encrypt, you can verify the
sending machine has any private key it can use for the decryption. The
thing with the Open PGP is that when you left the Key ID field empty,
it'll try to look up your keys with the From address of the message.
