Hi,
it does not sound like the app is frozen at all, as your subject
suggests.
When there is a problem with the password, then it's most often related
to the libsecret, which in turn means gnome-keyring-daemon. Is it
running? You can install seahorse and check the Passwords section
there, maybe delete everything for "Evolution Data Server", to start
from scratch. Then `evolution --force-shutdown` to restart all the
background processes. When you get the password prompt, it can show an
actual error message; is there any? What account type is it, I suppose
IMAP? Some services require certain authentication method, like for
example Google allows only OAuth2, which is named "OAuth2 (Google)" in
Evolution. Can you verify that, please? I also suppose you have
configured all your accounts in the Evolution directly, none in the
GNOME Online Accounts.
Also, run Evolution from a terminal. There can be some related runtime
warnings printed.
Bye,
Milan
