As Milan asked: is it a slash ("/") or a backslash ("\")?

I think it's a great leap of logic to immediately blame "some open-
source module" especially as I am doubtful that Apple would use OSS in
one of its core apps.  In my experience it is much more likely to be
some closed-source proprietary application not conforming to standards.
