Hi,
there are several aspects to this. Apart of the account type (as
Patrick asked and you replied IMAP), the search itself is important.
The 3.58.0 contains an improvement in this area, the feedback I
received so far was positive, thus I guess there are other bits
involved.
First of all, the search you use, what is it, please? You have the line
above the message list set to:
Show: [ Unread Messages ] Search: [ xxxx ] in [ yyyy ]
I'm interested in those "xxxx" and "yyyy". When you click the magnifier
icon on the left of the "xxxx" it'll open a context menu where you can
pick where to search - it says here "Subject or Addresses contain". I
guess, in your case, it says "Body contains" or "Message contains",
maybe? These are the most expensive searches and they can involve
server-side searching.
The "yyyy" is usually the other problem, because the "Current Folder"
option is the only one which searches directly in the selected folder.
All other options construct a search folder and add to it all folders
satisfying the option, like in case of the "Current Account" it adds
all known folders to the account belonging to the selected folder.
Users sometimes accidentally switch this option and then forget to
return in back to the "Current Folder". Searching the whole account, or
"All Accounts", is very expensive. You may also search in those
intentionally, I do not know.
Bye,
Milan
