On the  Debian platform sendmail is a symlink to exim4.
If you type:-

man sendmail

the exim4 man page is displayed.

There is a bucket load of documentation in /usr/share/doc/exim4,
however most of it goes over my head. 

I altered the exim4 conf to use "internet" instead of "local" and sent
my test message. The exim4 logs show it was rejected by hotmail.com
saying that my ISP is blacklisted! Joke??

So there is something incorrect within the format of the message and I
just have to research a solution.
