[Evolution-users] Unable to open ICS files in Evolution 3.52.3 under Ubuntu Studio 24.04.1 LTS

If I download an ICS file from a website, I automatically get an offer
to open it in Evolution, but clicking on it elicits no response.
If I then choose Evolution from "Open with" entry in the downloaded
file's context menu, I also get no response.
Is this a known limitation of this Evolution version?
If not what must I do to get it working?
