	Hi,
there is no limitation, I'm not aware of any in the 3.52.3. There
probably failed something. Could you run evolution from a terminal
like:

   evolution /path/to/file.ics

ideally when it's not running yet, thus any runtime warnings will be
visible on that terminal, but it can work also when another evolution
is running (only printing any errors on that terminal), which is
similar to calling Evolution from the GUI as you did.

It is supposed to open an import assistant. You can verify the file can
be read, and understood, by Evolution when you use File->Import->Single
file->.... from the menu in Evolution.
